Two young divers from Shamrock Diving Club which is based in the National Aquatic Centre, Blanchardstown, travelled to Southampton on October 23rd to compete in one of the elite UK platform and springboard diving competitions, the Southampton Invitational.

Shamrocks First talend ID camp

Diving in Dublin reached a new mile stone with the first ever talent ID camp hosted by Shamrock Diving Club. After a pilot testing program, run with the Children of Castleknock Educate together, 20 children age 6- 9 where invited to one of two camps, hosted by Shamrock Diving club in the NAC.

For 5 days the seven children who attended the first camp, where given an intensive course in Springboard and Platform diving. For four hours per day, the children learned the basic skills for take off and entry along with the basic dryland drills. The trampoline and dryland boards where used extensively during the week.

The feedback from the parents and the children was very positive and we hope the next camp on the 22nd August will be just as sucessful.

According to Donal O Hora who Supervised the course “this was better than we could have hoped for. The kids had a ball and the feed back from the parents was unbeliveably positive. We will hopfully retain all the participents within the sport, with some fast tracking into our squad system in September. We have twelve on the next camp so the exercise has been very worthwhile. We hope to run it out , throughout the Dublin 15 schools in September.”
